Hal Bateman is Runner-Up for the StatSheet Southland Player of the Week - February 25th, 2013

StatSheet's Southland Player of the Week for February 25th goes to Oral Roberts's Damen Bell-Holter. StatSheet's Southland Freshman of the Week goes to Jalan West from Northwestern State. And finally, Oral Roberts's Steven Roundtree has taken StatSheet's Southland 6th Man of the Week.

Bell-Holter led the Southland in blocked shots (2.5 per game). He also put up a strong showing in rebounding (6 per game) and scoring (15 pts per game). The Oral Roberts senior played well for the Golden Eagles in a win versus Central Arkansas and a loss to Weber State.

Bell-Holter led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 17 points and added 3 blocked shots in a big 94-65 win against Central Arkansas. In the next game he added 13 points and 2 assists in a 70-66 loss to Weber State.

This is one of five StatSheet Southland Player of the Week awards for Damen Bell-Holter. The runner-up this week is our own Hal Bateman. Honorable mention goes to Oral Roberts senior Warren Niles.

StatSheet Southland Freshman of the Week: Northwestern State's Jalan West

Jalan West averaged 27 minutes as a starter for Northwestern State. His averages in scoring (15.0 pts per game), assists (4.5 per game), and three pointers (2.5 per game) led all Southland freshmen. In an 82-71 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, West led all scoring for the Demons with 17 points and also pitched in 5 assists. In a 92-76 loss to Niagara, he added 13 points and 4 assists.

Jalan West has won the StatSheet Southland Freshman of the Week an astounding 3 times. The runner-up is Paul Baxter from Sam Houston State. Korey Billbury from Oral Roberts takes honorable mention.

StatSheet Southland 6th Man of the Week: Oral Roberts's Steven Roundtree

Junior Steven Roundtree, a 6-8 forward, averaged 20 minutes of action over the two games for the Golden Eagles. In the win against Central Arkansas, Roundtree got 13 points and 13 rebounds. During the loss to Weber State, he racked up 12 points on 85% shooting.

This is the first time this season that Steven Roundtree has won the StatSheet Southland 6th Man of the Week. Gary Roberson, a senior guard/forward from Northwestern State, is runner up. DeQuan Hicks, a junior forward from Northwestern State, earns honorable mention. Stephen F. Austin has 3 StatSheet Southland Player of the Week wins this season.
